Amedee's research focus is on applying the science of learning to STEM education. More specifically, her research is aimed at (a) evaluating the active learning construct; (b) determining the optimal amount and sequencing of active learning and lecture; (c) applying cognitive psychology principles to pedagogy; and (d) assessing the quality of the educational literature. Her studies take place in classroom and lab settings and also involve the use of educational technologies such as immersive virtual reality. She directs the Cognition and Active Learning (CAL) Lab at UGA.
