The University of Georgia has appointed Dr. Prashant Doshi, professor in the School of Computing, as the first executive director of the Institute for Artificial Intelligence (IAI). With over 20 years of experience in artificial intelligence research, Dr. Doshi will lead efforts to expand interdisciplinary AI programs, research, and service at UGA. A long-time faculty member and former interim associate director of IAI, Dr. Doshi is recognized for his pioneering work in multi-agent systems and human-robot collaboration. His recent ventures include founding InversAI, a startup commercializing AI-powered cobots for agricultural processing, earning him UGA’s 2025 Entrepreneur of the Year award. Dr. Doshi’s appointment aligns with UGA’s broader investment in AI, including the recruitment of nearly 70 new faculty members through its Presidential Interdisciplinary Hiring Initiative. Under his leadership, IAI aims to strengthen UGA’s role as a national leader in AI education and innovation.
